Creative Tuesdays at the Main

The Lancaster County of the Arts in partnership with the Lancaster County Library Main offers “Creative Tuesdays at the Main.” These workshops, held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, offer a variety of types of classes for hobbyists, beginners, and professionals. Our 2025 class schedule is below, and you can sign up for any class ahead of time!

All classes are held at the Lancaster County Main Library at 313 S. White Street in Lancaster, and registration for each is $30, all supplies included.

April 8, 2025 | 4:30-6:30pm

A Date with a Muse Writing Workshop with Kim Blum-Hyclak

Through prompts and exercises, participants will generate several pieces of writing and learn about tools on developing them into works of fiction, nonfiction, and/or poetry.

This class will be themed: A Story in a Box! Using prompts, students will play with character, setting, plot, genre...and throw in a bit of poetry too. Open to everyone!

Intro to Ballet with Phillip McRorie

Perfect for beginners, this class introduces the fundamentals of ballet in a welcoming and supportive environment. Students will learn basic positions, posture, and movement techniques while developing grace, flexibility, and coordination. Participants will build strength and confidence while gaining an appreciation for the art of ballet. No prior experience is necessary—just bring comfortable attire and a willingness to move!

Make Your Own Vase with Abbey Hunter

Discover the art of handbuilding as you create your own unique clay vase in this beginner-friendly class. Using techniques like coiling, slab construction, and pinching, you’ll shape and design a functional or decorative vase from start to finish. Guided by our very own artist-in-residence, you’ll learn essential clay-handling skills, surface decoration methods, and finishing techniques.

Art Therapy with Liz Bell

Participants will learn the basics of art therapy and engage in different activities designed to encourage self-expression, reduce stress, and improve emotional resilience. The activities are suitable for all skill levels and are particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with any emotional challenges. Through guided art-making and reflective exercises, attendees will explore new ways to understand and articulate their feelings in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Gelli Plate Printmaking with Joanna Lothers

Students will learn to make one-of-a-kind pieces of art inspired by nature using the gelatin plate printing process. By applying paint to gelli plates, creating designs, and then transferring those designs to paper, you will make a variety of unique and beautifully layered prints.
